A cheese bite in a mouse trapTurns out, it's not your fault when you reach for a bag of chips you did not even want and yet you devour the whole thing. Food manufacturers have partnered with chemical manufacturers to trick your mind into eating what you did not want. Unless you were eating 100% organic (certified) foods, you are not totally to blame. We actually are incapable of stopping after one chip or m&m.

The Brain and Your Appetite
There is a part of the brain that actually controls and triggers your cravings, it's called the appestat. The appestat is responsible for knowing exactly which nutrients are in your blood so that when the balance of all 51 nutrients is perfect, you feel sated and full. The problem is if you do not have the proper blend of these nutrients you will still crave more food and this is where science has attacked and turned on us as a country.  The United States ranks amongst the countries that spend most on obesity related illness and also leads the charge with obesity related deaths among English speaking countries.

Adding or Removing Nutrients From Food Creates Cravings
Science has learned how to add or remove nutrients from your food so that you do not achieve the perfect balance of elements which will keep you going back for more, in other words, they have learned to manipulate you much in the same way that tobacco companies manipulate smokers with the nicotine. This does not mean there is no accountability, of course there is, it simply means that science has chosen to forsake us yet again in the pursuit of profits.

Much of the research is still in its infancy however it is accepted that by adding excess fat, sugar and salt to a food tends to make people overeat which may be why food producers add sugar to salt to almost everything. Look at any of the labels in your pantry right now, how many have “ose” in the endings of the ingredients?  This is a suffix for sugar. Does everything really need added salt and sugar?  Bread, ketchup, soups, canned beans, even baby formula often has salt added (which interestingly has been shown in tests to be preferred by the infants further proving that we are programmed to prefer the salt and sugar.)

Organic Versus Standard Brands

If you chose the certified organic foods they do not have these additions to the ingredients so clearly it is possible to package without all the preservatives. It is estimated that 90% of the money that Americans spend on food is used to buy processed foods, that's staggering! Sure, you may say that we are lazy as a culture and prefer the easy pre-packed products but it is possible that we have been tricked into buying them because we now crave them thanks to scientific manipulation.

Still think it's just a coincidence. Get back on track and reduce your intake of these processed foods and gain control of your diet and your life!
