How many of us wish we could burn more calories a week, thus losing more pounds a week? How many of us are short on the time to join a gym and attend cycling classes faithfully? Well, have no fear, your answer is right here. There are plenty of ways to increase energy and daily calorie burning. The most effective way to boost your weekly calorie burn is to add a little aerobic exercise to your routine with many everyday activities.

Before you shake your head in disagreement, read on to discover what constitutes aerobic exercise in this day and age. There are a plethora of options to consider; anyone can find a suitable exercise. In addition to fitness classes with people in spandex tights, sweating up a storm, aerobic benefits exist in simple, everyday activities like walking or even gardening.

Once you get into cardiovascular exercise or 'cardio', you’ll find that a little goes a long way. Two brisk 10-15-minute walks a day even without a weight-loss diet will make you drop 1-2 dress sizes over the course of a year. Some researchers believe that aerobic exercise specifically targets abdominal fat, which is good news for people with stubborn belly bulges.

What's more, the benefits of aerobic exercise exceed the advantages of a shrinking waistline. Many studies have shown that the more calories you burn, the less likely you contract a cardiovascular disease. Since aerobic exercise burns calories, you should get yourself into a regular aerobic exercise routine.

Doing What You Love to Get Healthy

The most important part of sticking to and enjoying your aerobic routine is to engage in an activity you love. Remember, this activity will occupy you for 10-15 min or longer a few times a week. If you force yourself to engage in an activity you hate, consequently, you'll get frustrated or bored and you’ll end up quitting before you really start. The exercise you choose should be a convenient, enjoyable activity that has you looking forward to working out every day.

Yet, even when you do something you love, boredom is bound to ensue at one point or another. The best method to get around boredom with your exercise is fitness variety. When you have a selection of workouts to choose from, you and your body are less likely to feel burned out, and more likely to stay engaged in your fitness momentum. If your workouts have you feeling restless, now is the time to start varying your exercise routine. The biggest fitness trends out there these days include exercise tapes, classes, and clubs; the unified goal of these fitness catalysts is to combine great music and new moves to create fun and functional sport-specific workouts, an innovative alternative to old-fashioned aerobics.

For example, consider classes that combine indoor cycling with yoga, tai chi with strength training, and kickboxing with stretching. For a more free-spirited workout, try your hand at a fun, new dance such as belly dancing, line dancing, or swing dancing. Check the activity calendar in your local newspaper for classes starting up in your area. If you're not the group-exercise type, there's a solution to that one, too. Try a new physical activity such as swimming in your community pool, hiking your local nature trails, or learning a new sport. Whether you're hiking, biking, or inline skating, there are many ways to keep yourself engaged in exercise. Stay motivated by doing something you enjoy, avoid injury at all times, and, most importantly, never quit!
