You Will Use them Over and Over
Glider discs are a lesser known exercise tool that should become a must have in gyms across the country and for the at-home exerciser. They are small discs that look like frisbees that are extremely versatile and effective for toning and sculpting the entire body. If you have been using paper plates or towels to mimic the same movements over the years that these provide, there is no comparison in terms of quality of exercise.
Gliders take exercise to a whole new level. Exercises like squats, front, back, and side lunges are all able to be executed with a wider range of motion and with less risk of injury to your joints. The discs ensure proper alignment so your knees do not go past your toes adding extra unnecessary stress to the joint. The smooth movement of the exercises also assists you in going deeper and further into your lunges. This is a great exercise tool for the lower body with special emphasis on the glutes, hamstrings, and inner and outer thighs.
What most exercisers don't realize is that these discs also work your upper body and core amazingly well. Exercises like mountain climbers and knee-ins from a plank position challenge your core and engage your stabilizer muscles. Lats and shoulders get a major boost from using this exercise tool as part of a well-balanced strength training program. The reliance on your body weight and deep range of motion challenges your muscular endurance and leans and defines your muscles.
Gliders come in two types. The soft ones are ideal for gym floors, hardwood floors, and tile. Hard plastic ones are best suited for carpet and outdoors on grassy surfaces. They are affordable, portable, and easily stored. For the home exerciser, a pair of these takes up no space and can be used to resistance train your entire body. They challenge your muscles in a completely different way than a standard weight training program. For all lower body exercises, dumbbells and body bars can be used in conjunction with the glider discs to intensify the exercises even more.
If you are new to this fitness tool, there are many DVDs that can demonstrate a range of exercises that you can easily incorporate into any workout. Every group exercise class at a gym can also use these in lieu of or in addition to dumbbells for a creative, innovative way to work the entire body.
Try this hidden gem today and your muscles will be sore in a good way tomorrow.
