We're all human, and even for the most stoic in the group, it's still true that we all have emotions. Emotional power has been responsible for overcoming some of the most incredible challenges that have faced humanity. But emotional power must be understood and used wisely for us to receive the benefits it can help to accomplish. Without emotional control, we cannot profit from the power of our emotions, and without control, emotions may also strip us of the power we already possess. Below are 3 tips for developing and understanding how to use emotions for beneficial results.

· Experiencing Highs and Lows
· Playing the Psychic
· A Pail with no Bottom

Experiencing Highs and Lows

Each day that passes comes with its own emotional challenges to get to the gym and work out. But no one has to sit by and be a willing participant in emotions they don’t enjoy or see as constructive in their life. There will undoubtedly be highs and lows in our life; however, we have the ability to transcend and transform all of these emotions. Feeling high, we energetically complete our workouts, but when we are experiencing lows, we do everything to avoid them. When you use the proper technique to harness these emotional states and channel their power in a good direction that you choose, you'll get some feedback from your emotional state, but be able to chart your best path unhindered by negative feelings. Sitting by idly as a victim when you are "on a low" will only reinforce in our minds a sense of powerlessness.

Playing the Psychic
It is amazing how many people act psychic and don’t realize they are doing it. Of course, the predictions always tend to be on the side of things not working out. Each of us has a choice to make when it comes to the ambiguous situations in life and the emotional states that accompany them. We can transform the negative energy by committing ourselves toward changing an undesirable outcome. Instead of moping around as a victim to natural lows, we can get dressed and go to the gym in defiance of negative emotions. It is up to us and depends totally on changing our outlook toward the situation. High energy or low energy, both states are powerful, but we determine whether we are a victim or victor when it comes to harnessing the power and channeling it toward our fitness goals.

A Pail with no Bottom
Failing to take control over emotional states is like trying to retrieve water with a pail with no bottom. It doesn’t matter how much water you put in the pail, it’s all going to leak out. Emotional energy is the same way and by understanding this, you can plug the hole by redirecting energy and creating your own results. By simply committing to challenge the validity of your emotional states, you can get leverage against undesirable effects. The "self talk" goes something like this: I will work out today regardless of how I feel and won’t let anything get in the way of accomplishing my training goals. I am determined, dedicated and disciplined enough to transform any emotional state into dynamic energy which I will channel into achieving my fitness goals. Sound iffy? Try it out and do it often, and you’ll be surprised by the results.
