Never heard of a bamboo dress? I hadn't either until I started researching into workout clothes that don't retain the bad odors that are caused by bacteria which latches on and seems to hold on for dear life. I have lost many battles to the “odor bug” because this year I have resolved to throw away clothes that still smell after they have come through the wash.
It's funny, you workout, sweat, toss in the hamper and wash. Seems like this should do the trick and upon first donning your outfit all seems fine. Your top and/ or pants smell baby powder fresh (or whatever fragrance you choose) however after just an hour or so or upon beginning to heat up the bacteria which has set up camp on your clothing comes to life and you smell as if you have not showered in days!
It is an embarrassing problem which plagues many of us in the fitness industry who not only have to sweat for a living but who also have to stay in those same clothes for a few hours at a time. I have heard of soaps which kill the bacteria and even freezing your clothing is said to kill the little buggers but truthful all I have found that works is throwing away my clothing which on an instructors salary is not a great thing to have to do. Enter bamboo clothing. Could it be that at last there is a solution to the “smelly clothing” problem? Read on to learn why the bamboo plant may just be the best thing that has happened to the textile industry and the fitness personnel al over the world. Bamboo clothing is the latest breakthrough in fitness wear.
Bamboo is used now in types of clothing – shirts, dresses even socks and thankfully, fitness or active wear. This particular textile has uncharacteristic antimicrobial properties which when blended with cotton and/ or spandex allow it to take shape for flattering and functional wear. The smooth fiber of the plant also gives it another benefit; it keeps you warm when it is cool out and cool when the heat is on.
Why is Bamboo Clothing the Latest Breakthrough in Fitness Wear
Some other feature benefits of the bamboo when used in garment production:
Non allergen – Bamboo is organic and will not irritate the skin like wool and hemp might making it a great selection for people with hyper sensitive skin or skin conditions like eczema or dermatitis.
Soft – Bamboo is softer than the most soft cotton you can use. In expensive and with a beautiful shimmer to it, it is a comfortable and fashionable choice.
Absorbent – Bamboo as a fiber is riddled with very small microscopic holes which allow it to absorb water or sweat at four times the rate of cotton which means you are drier longer when you exercise.
UV Protection – Bamboo is like nature's sunscreen. Clothing made from bamboo have a natural resistance to allowing UV rays to permeate.
Anti-bacterial – Kuri is an antimicrobial agent found in bamboo and it resists the cultivation of bacteria which keeps you odor free.
Bamboo is clearly an amazing fabric and one you definitely want to look into. Bamboo clothing is the latest breakthrough in fitness wear.
