You have undoubtedly heard that your heart rate is the best indicator of your training level and for this reason so many cyclists, runners and cross trainers have added heart rate monitors to their list of must have training equipment. Swimmers unfortunately were often left out in the cold without an accurate measure of their intensity because most monitors rely on a chest strap for measuring the heart beats. All of that has changed however with new technology which measures heart rate via the earlobe and temple of the swimmer. The Aqua Pulse Heart Rate Monitor ensures that you are training in the optimal zone without the cumbersome chest strap that has hindered swimmers in the past.
Heart Rate is the Most Important Measure of Your Training Intensity
Once you know your heart rate and where you need to train, your heart rate training zone, you can achieve your best fitness level. The knowledge of your optimal heart rate allows you to prevent over or under-training and keeps you on track while you are in the middle of a workout. You allow your body and muscles to create muscle memory by training at the zone that will get you past the finish line at your personal best. Another benefit of a HRM (heart rate monitor) is its ability to alert you to lulls in your peak performance which can be bought on by dehydration, lack of adequate nutrition or just plain fatigue. Knowing that you are not at your peak will help you to get there.
Difference Between the Aqua Pulse and Standard Heart Rate Monitors
The standard heart rate monitor is made up of a chest strap and a wrist worn watch which work together to transmit your heart rate data. This is a very good system for runners and other dryland type training sessions but it is not optimal for swimmers for a few reasons. The chest strap tends to move around while the swimmer is gliding through the water which will interfere with the signal and subsequent reading. Also, a swimmer cannot easily see their heart rate on the wrist unless they stop swimming which makes it more of a hinderance than a benefit while mid-stroke.
The Aqua Pulse HRM is very different from the standard heart rate monitor for many reasons. It is totally waterproof, it clips to the swimmers goggles and there is no chest strap. All the functions of the training aid are brought together in one small unobtrusive device. The Aqua Pulse actually detects the swimmers heart rate via the pulse found in the ear lobe and then transmits that information to the swimmer via bone conduction technology (transfer of sound through the bone instead of the eardrum because there is not air to vibrate under the water) so that the swimmer is acutely aware of what zone they are swimming in which keeps them on track.
The Aqua Pulse will alert you based on the time intervals you set. You may want to know every twenty seconds where your heart rate is or space your alerts up to every 5 minutes. If during the interval you want to know where you are, simply press a button and the Aqua Pulse will tell you. Heart rate training is integral to success at any sport and swimming was in need of a device that would aid swimmers in their ability to precisely monitor their heart rate and energy output. The Aqua Pulse is a revolutionary device which will at long last allow swimmers to know where they are training at all times without having to stop to read the display on their wrist.
