Stability balls were first used for rehabilitation of injuries in the early 1900's by physical therapists with patients who suffered from neurological disorders.

Aquilino Cosani, an Italian toy maker, started mass producing the balls in the 1960s under the name Gymnastik and twenty years later it is now the main distributor of the stability ball!
