Side to Side - hold the ball with both hands to the side of the body. With a quick movement, propel the ball toward the far side of the body, adjusting with its motion to "catch" it on the other side. With the hand held medicine ball, you can adapt this to a one-handed activity.
Squat/Press/Bench - holding the medicine ball out in front of you with both hands, practice squatting down, then regaining your full height. Then, practice extending your arms while holding the ball, out an up in front of you, feeling the weight of the medicine ball against your arm movements. Again, with the hand held medicine ball, you can practice this as a one handed activity much like a simulated shot put.
Toe Touch - holding the medicine ball, bend down with the ball until your extended arm is touching your foot, with the other leg back at an angle. Repeat with the opposite arm.
These specialized types of medicine balls allow for users to do specific activities that require a hand held ball, not the standard larger ball types that a user has to hold with both hands. Consider all of the uses for a weighted medicine ball that fits into the hand.
