Polar was the first company to create an EKG accurate wireless heart rate monitor. They created the monitor in 1977 specifically for use by the Finnish National Cross Country Ski Team.
Once the monitor was used by a national team, athletes and fitness enthusiasts were hooked.They were able to gauge their intensity for daily workouts and train smarter.
