Jim Stoppani, PhD, conducted extensive research in the prestigious John B. Pierce Laboratory and department of cellular and molecular physiology at Yale University School of Medicine. His focus was on the effects of exercise and diet on gene regulation in skeletal muscle. He was given the Gatorade Beginning Investigator in Exercise Science Award in 2002.

Stoppani is now acting as senior science editor for Muscle & Fitness and Flex magazines at Weider Publications in Woodland Hills, California. His resume also includes; member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN). Stoppani received his doctorate in exercise physiology from the University of Connecticut in 2000.
