Resistance bands or exercise bands as they are also known, have several advantages which either are the same or make them a better choice over other fitness tools:

Increase your strength by using resistance bands. The bands allow you to use “accommodating resistance”, which means you can challenge your muscles in a different way because there is always tension on the band which is different from dumbbells.

Exercises

  • Pilates Leg Circles - Wrap a resistance band around your foot. Hold your leg straight out and slowly circle the leg while holding the band tightly to avoid movement
  • Overhead Press - Stand on one side of the resistance band and grasp the other in your hand. Lift the hand over head and return to start
  • Outer Thigh Walk - Stand on the center of the bands and grasp the edges with your hands. Slowly walk to the side so that the tension of the band is along your outer thigh
