Negative chin-up:
If you are a beginner exerciser or if you have difficulty lifting your own bodyweight try this exercise. Get assistance in getting in the up position of the chin up and then on your own, using your own body's resistance slowly lower your body down into a starting position with your arms straight and your body in a straight line. You are getting the upper body strength benefits without having to give up because you are unable to lift your body. Start out slowly, doing just a few at a time and aim for 8 to 10 reps eventually for 2 or 3 sets.
One Handed Chin-Up: This is significantly more challenging. Hold the bar with one hand, with the other hand grip the forearm of the arm holding the bar and raise your body up until your chin is above the bar and lower. Try to do 2 or 3 on each arm or as many as you can do to failure.
